“AD Classics: Koshino House / Tadao Ando”

This article from Arch Daily describes Tadao Ando’s design for the Koshino House in Ashiya, Hyogo, Japan.  What interests me about this article is the many photos it uses to show Ando’s design.  The way Tadao uses concrete as more than just a structural material and casts a pattern into the surface so the concrete can better reflect light and create more aesthetic interest.  The finish on the concrete allows light to reach spaces that it would not had it not been altered.  This case study  further shows how the use of concrete coupled with the natural aspects of a space can make or break a design.
